Early childhood development
Education is a social investment that is important for social change in any community. This is one of the outcome indicators of our interventions in teenage mothers’ rehabilitation
Vocational Skills Training
The vocational skills courses are offered for a period of two months to one year where youth from all backgrounds learn a variety of income generating activities and skills. The classes are held at the CCAYEF offices and all materials and supplies necessary remain at the on-site training center.
Adolescent Health & Empowerment
Provision of adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) information and services to in- and out-of-school youth. Prevention of teenage pregnancies.
Teenage mother rehabilitation
Premarital pregnancy is considered as a taboo in Ugandan families and this counts for the mistreatment and abuse faced by majority of the girls after getting pregnant. Most pregnant teen girls in Uganda and in Mukono district in particular undergo stigmatization, abandonment and rejection by their families, which compels them to carry out abortions, drop out of school, engage in forced/early marriages, and spend the rest of their lives in abject poverty subject to child labor, abuse and neglect.
CHILD PROTECTION
This strategic priority / thematic area focuses on addressing child/OVC challenging issues of Integrated Early Childhood Development, Legal Protection Interventions, Health, and Nutrition; Teenage pregnancy/un-intended second pregnancies/ child marriages, Menstrual Hygiene and school retention.
SOCIO –ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT AND SKILLING OF THE YOUTH
This strategic priority area is focusing on equipping the youth and young people with functional skills and income generating activities delivered through vocational training, supporting backyard farming and small scale open field agriculture; facilitating employment opportunities and supporting Village Saving and loan association/scheme (VSLA) activities.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRENGTHENING AND CAPACITY BUILDING
Priority strategic objective: “To strengthen organizational capacity and competences in governance, programing and execution of CCAYEF mandate”
HEALTH
Health is another strategic priority area which focuses on Health awareness and prevention of infections, promoting health seeking behaviors, improving nutrition, household and community hygiene, this is achieved through life skills training, provision of Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) information and linking to services, HIV/AIDS prevention services, promotion of WASH interventions for better health among schools, households and fishing communities.
